La Gabbia

https://vimeo.com/159139121

La Gabbia is a performance about the universal suffering of the body. The artist erases her body and spirit through a tragic yet poetic gesture, pushing 500 white roses one-by-one through the walls of a cage until she is completely obscured. A rose crystallized in sugar is contained within a glass globe–fragile, beautiful, precious. The delicate scent of rose oil recalls the fresh white roses twisted through the cage during the performance. The edible rose is brushed with egg white and preserved in sugar. It may be eaten or displayed, and will last six months to a year. It is accompanied by an exclusive scent ELLA by NYC-based ARQUISTE Parfumeur. ELLA is constructed around the idea of a woman’s body, inspired by the performance with its floral and carnal notes. A limited quantity of these numbered editions was distributed as part of the performance.
