Valeska Soares’s sculptural work – which unfolds in installations and movies – establishes a precise dialogue between conceptual rigor and the manipulation of the senses by means of sensual perceptual games. Interpersonal relationships, glossaries, mazes and gardens are recurring themes in her oeuvre, which alludes to Mythology and Literature as well as the History of Art. Mirrored surfaces often appear as a strategy for involving the viewer, whose senses are stimulated by sounds, smells and visual illusion.
