On the occasion of the Whitney Museum of American Art’s annual Art Party, Kreëmart is pleased to produce a performance by the celebrated artist, Kalup Linzy, A Memorial for Taiwan, in a multimedia performance celebrating the life of Taiwan, one of the artist’s longstanding alter egos in his nearly ten year repetoire of video art.
On stage will be a casket, two large silver-gilt frames with black and white portraits of Taiwan, all adorned with hundreds of edible flowers, and a video depicting the happier moments of Taiwan. The artist will also introduce his new character, Kaye, star of his forthcoming feature film scheduled to be shown at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. The artist and his band will perform a series of his original compositions as well as some by noted artists, Whitney Houston and Otis Redding.
Dessert chefs are Guido Mogni, Megan Fitzroy of Fitzroy Cakes, and Hiroyo Kuramata, Kuramata Cakes and Sugar Flowers.
